Established in 1888, Abilene High School has built a formidable football program over the decades. The Eagles have clinched multiple state championships, with notable victories in 1923, 1928, 1931, and a remarkable three-peat from 1954 to 1956. After a 53-year hiatus, they secured another state title in 2009, underscoring the program’s resilience and enduring excellence. The team’s home games are a community highlight, drawing fans from all over the region to support their local heroes.

Abilene Christian University Wildcats

Abilene Christian University’s football program has a rich history dating back to its inception in 1919. The Wildcats have achieved significant milestones, including NAIA national championships in 1973 and 1977. In recent years, the team has demonstrated consistent performance, with a 9–5 record in the 2025 season, co-championing the United Athletic Conference and advancing to the NCAA Division I Second Round. The Wildcats’ games at Wildcat Stadium are a testament to the university’s dedication to athletic excellence and community engagement.
